CATL announced a new 100GWH battery cell plant in Hungary, its second in Europe, and will supply automakers like Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.

CATL(Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited) Chinese largest battery manufacturer, has announced gaint new battery plant in Europe, reveal on Friday with the aim to supply automakers like Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
CTAL to build a 100GWH battery cell plant in Debrecen of east Hungary would invest €7.34 billion euros (~$7.4 billion USD), it is the second battery plant in Europe from CATL.
East Hungary Plant will join CATL Munich Germany facility soon, as per the TeslaRati report.
Hungary battery plant will cover around 221 hectares(~ 546.103 acres) in Southern Industrial park, Debrecen, which is 48 hectares more compared to its first plant.
SNE Research which is a market analysis company has revealed that Tesla battery suppliers dominate the industry, CATL china-based battery EV provider achieved 1st position with 34.8% of market share in the first half year earning report.

CATL Chairman DR Robin Zeng also responded about the investment.

The greenfield project in Hungary will be a giant leap in CATL’s global expansion, and also an important step in our efforts to make an outstanding contribution to the green energy drive for humankind.
CATL also announced that in the Hungary plant we will utilize “sustainable energy” for electricity, our vision is to build a “sustainable & circular battery value chain”.

Recently, CATL also invests around $5 billion in battery cells in Noth America, this year CATL also worked with Tesla for providing LPS batteries for its Model 3 and Model Y, dominating china.
Tesla also orders a 45GWH LPS battery to CATL which is around 800k standard range for Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y.
It also reveals that CATL plans to expand its production from 100 GWH to 1,000 GWh yearly.
