GM(General Motors) and LG energy set up a partnership called Ultium Cell where GM motor is responsible for making battery pack and LG handle battery cell production. As per the electrek report.

Let’s talk about the Ultium Cell plants, It establishes the first plant with 2.8 million Sqrt in Warren, Ohio which is capable of 35GWH annual capacity. In September, its production began in Ohio for hummer EV and Cadliuq Lyriq.

Its 2nd partnership covers 2.8 million sqrt of an electric vehicle battery plant in Spring Hill, Tennesee with a production slate for late 2023.

In January, Ultium Cell announced its third partnership, which has the plan to establish a 50KWH battery plant in Lansing, Michigan.

ultium cell also expects to set up 130KWH of the electric vehicle battery plant if all three plants will run at full capacity.

MG and LG plan to set up its 4th electric battery plant in India as per the media, but Ultium Cells was looking for tax incentives in the state. thatswhy it may be on hold, but GM is still eyeing the location, and it also expects it may be used with another battery maker.
