Honda India’s two-wheeler the market leader plan to sell 10 Lakh electric two-wheeler by 2030.
Honda motor company Ltd. has revealed its plan to enter, e-scooter, e-bikes without specifying its launch date but expected to be launched by 2023.

On Thursday, India’s largest two-wheeler maker, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter (HMSI) unveiled its plan to launch multiple electric two-wheeler scooters in India by 2030.
Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President, and CEO, HMSI, told ETAuto, “Based on our experience in China and Japan, customers find e-scooters easier to ride. Even in China, the majority of EVs are e-scooters and only a few e-motorcycles. So, we are not looking to bring EVs in the commuter motorcycle market in India, but it can happen in the premium motorcycles segment because they have enough space, bigger engines, and are not price-sensitive,”.
HMSI reveals its electric two-wheeler concept without specifying its timeline but it is expected to be launched by 2023, has the aim to sell 10lakh electric vehicles units, with the hope that electric two-wheeler contributes 30% of its total sales by 2023, Honda also said that EV initial production at the Manesar plant and will be sold through its existing touchpoints.
Manesar Plant has an annual production capacity of 5.5 million, right now the company utilized 3.8 million out of this.
Honda also installed its battery sharing subsidiary HONDA POWER PACK ENERGY INDIA PVT. LTD. in India with a total capacity of RS. 135 crore.
In 2021 November, Honda also provides battery sharing service for electric two & three wheelers, has been starting this year in Bengaluru, with technical support to vehicle OEMs in the upcoming years.
