Honda is not revealed any technical specs or detail of its electric bike or scooter but a later month ago, honda dropped hints at its plan for green energy, which includes 10 new electric bikes and scooters.

Today, Honda America shares a design sketch of its electric bike, which clearly shows that honda replace the ICE (internal combustion bike) with an electric bike, that offers a large battery located at the center(in place of the engine), with disc brakes at both the rear and front end, USD fork suspension ( Upside Down )at the front.

In terms of design language, it could be like its sibling CB350R and CB750 Hornet which has so aggressive design with a sharp corner and tapered rear design.

It is a basic overview of its electric bike but the final product prototype or design will be launched soon, it might be launched on 2 January as the automaker expect.

Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President, and CEO, HMSI, told ETAuto, “Based on our experience in China and Japan, customers find e-scooters easier to ride. Even in China, the majority of EVs are e-scooters and only a few e-motorcycles. So, we are not looking to bring EVs in the commuter motorcycle market in India, but it can happen in the premium motorcycles segment because they have enough space, bigger engines, and are not price-sensitive,”.

HMSI reveals its electric two-wheeler concept without specifying its timeline but it is expected to be launched by 2023, and has the aim to sell 10lakh electric vehicles units, with the hope that electric two-wheeler contributes 30% of its total sales by 2023, Honda also said that EV initial production at the Manesar plant and will be sold through its existing touchpoints.

Manesar Plant has an annual production capacity of 5.5 million, right now the company utilized 3.8 million out of this.

Honda also installed its battery-sharing subsidiary HONDA POWER PACK ENERGY INDIA PVT. LTD. in India with a total capacity of RS. 135 crore.

In 2021 November, Honda also provides battery sharing service for electric two & three-wheelers, which has been starting this year in Bengaluru, with technical support to vehicle OEMs in the upcoming years.
