Tata Power partners Zoomcar for EV charging solutions
Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with the car-sharing platform Zoomcar to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and provide a convenient charging experience for EV users. The collaboration centers around Tata Power’s EZ EV charging points, which will be integrated with Zoomcar’s platform to cater to existing and potential EV owners. This initiative aims to encourage more individuals to list their electric vehicles on Zoomcar’s platform and entice more potential customers to consider opting for EVs.

Tata Power boasts an extensive nationwide network of EV charging infrastructure, including over 50,000 home chargers, 4,370+ public and semi-public charging points, and 250 bus-charging stations across 350 cities, encompassing various highways. Over the next five years, the company has ambitious plans to establish 25,000 charging points, thereby strengthening the overall EV ecosystem and contributing to sustainable mobility. Their comprehensive EV charging infrastructure offers an array of solutions such as software subscription services, a mobile app, charger hardware, power supply, and backend infrastructure. The accompanying mobile app allows users to conveniently locate charging stations within Tata Power’s network.
Zoomcar, a car-sharing platform, currently features more than 20,000 cars on its platform across India, Indonesia, and Egypt. Greg Moran, the CEO and Co-founder of Zoomcar, expressed the platform’s suitability for electric vehicles and anticipated that half of their platform would be composed of EVs by 2025. The collaborative partnership between Tata Power and Zoomcar aspires to create a holistic ecosystem that caters to the evolving needs of electric vehicle enthusiasts.

Notably, in July, Zoomcar introduced an RFID card that facilitates EV charging initiation by tapping the EZ CHARGE RFID card onto the EZ charger at any location within the country. Praveer Sinha, the CEO & MD of Tata Power, described the collaboration with Zoomcar as a significant step forward in their mission to accelerate the transition to green mobility within India. This partnership aligns with their collective efforts to contribute to a more sustainable and eco-friendly transportation landscape.
