A new AI prank is going viral in Ireland and it’s causing real problems.
People are using image AI tools (Midjourney, Nano Banana, etc.) to generate hyper-real photos of a stranger — an “intruder” — placed inside someone’s room
Those fake images are then shared with friends and family to scare them. The prank can create panic, stress, and even lead to unnecessary emergency calls.
Gardaí (the Irish police) have warned people not to upload or share fake AI images as pranks. Emergency services exist to deal with real crises
