Hi guys, Jai Shree Ram! Finally, after Maruti and Tata, now Kia has also announced revised prices for its most popular compact SUV — the Kia Sonet.
As per the new GST reform, cars under 4 meters in length now attract 18% GST (instead of the earlier 28%). Since the Kia Sonet falls under this category, its prices have dropped significantly.
Earlier, under the old GST regime, the Sonet attracted 28% GST + 1% cess on petrol variants and 28% GST + 3% cess on diesel variants, which meant an overall tax burden of around 31%. Now, under the new rule, only 18% GST applies to both petrol and diesel variants.
Big Price Cuts Across Variants
The Kia Sonet competes with Hyundai Venue, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300 in the compact SUV segment. But after the GST cut, Sonet prices have dropped by ₹69,700 to ₹1.64 lakh, depending on the variant.
The biggest price drop is on the diesel 1.5 model, which sees a reduction of up to ₹1.64 lakh.
